Election 2008

Tomorrow is the day for whichwe have all been waiting. After what seems like a million years of campaigning, the time has come to elect the new president of the United States.

I expect that Barack Obama will win, but by how large a margin I can’t predict. With both candidates campaigning hard in battleground states like Indiana, Ohio and Virginia, it’s unsure if McCain will make it an interesting race.

The one thing I like about how things are being projected is that there will now be a majority party. The Democrats will have the presidency, and majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives. I’m in favor of this because it will get legislation moving in Washington, D.C., and there shouldn't be as much gridlock.

Now some might disagree with me about this being a good idea. An argument might be that we need checks and balances, but I disagree. The Democrats will put into motion their plans to help our nation with problems, such as the economy, the war in Iraq and health care. They will take full responsibility for their actions and now have no excuses that certain legislation isn't getting past or that the president vetoed their bill. People will see the results of their plans and either embrace them or vote in new representatives at the next election.

I can't wait to see reactions from around the world when Obama wins tomorrow. It will be a historic night that most Americans never would have expected to see in their lifetimes.
